The Story

One man and his tractor. And a goat called Satan.

This beautiful winery is located in the picturesque village of Fumane, in the hills of Valpolicella. It originates from the 18th century, when the winery was the only lit up house on the hill. The villagers below would warn their children that if they misbehaved, the magicians (maghi) from the house would come and take them away. Great parenting skills! The current magician is Paolo Creazzi, waving the wand in fine style since 2011. He was trained by the legendary Roberto Ferrarini (Quintarelli), who inspired him to take the winery to new hights.

The grapes are sourced from three vineyards which are found on the steep hillsides that surrounds the winery. It has a markedly cooler microclimate than the rest of Valpolicella, giving his wines a rare freshness. His vineyards are also magical, bustling with life: hares, foxes, grasshoppers, birds and even a black goat. Paolo has no idea where this black goat comes from. He is called ‘Satan’ because he devours Paolo’s grapes. Unfortunately, the wines received amazing reviews from Jancis Robinson, so the word is out and stocks are under severe pressure. Grab them whilst you can- the whites are well worth a look too. A superstar in the making.
