Domaine Billaud-Simon has been part of the Chablis wine region since 1815. Upon returning from the Napoleonic Wars, Charles Louis Noël Billaud planted the estate's first vines, and for over two centuries, the estate has cultivated a reputation for producing exceptional Chardonnay from the region's unique terroir. In 2014, the Faiveley family acquired the estate, maintaining its independent operations to preserve its distinctive winemaking traditions.
Their 17 hectares of vineyards are strategically located on both sides of the Serein River, and benefit from Chablis' renowned Kimmeridgian limestone soils, rich in marine fossils, which impart the characteristic minerality to the wines. Averaging 50 years in age, vines are meticulously tended to ensure the highest quality fruit.
Domaine Billaud-Simon's holdings include plots in four prestigious Grand Cru vineyards: Les Clos, Vaudésir, Les Preuses, and Les Blanchots. In addition to these Grand Crus, the domaine cultivates four Premier Cru vineyards: Montée de Tonnerre, Fourchaume, Mont de Milieu, and Les Vaillons.
The wines are celebrated for their aromatic complexity, with citrus fruits, white flowers, and classic mineral notes. On the palate, they offer a harmonious blend of richness and freshness. These wines possess remarkable aging potential, evolving beautifully over time while retaining their signature tension and vibrancy.
