The Story

Domaine Fournillon et Fils is a family-owned winery located in the village of Bernouil, just northeast of the Chablis appellation in Burgundy. The estate spans around 23 hectares of vineyards. The soils in this area are distinctively sandy with limestone influence, contributing to wines that are fresh, mineral-driven, and classically styled. Remarkably, some of the vines remain on original rootstock due to the soil’s natural resistance to phylloxera, offering a rare connection to historic Burgundian viticulture.

The domaine produces a range of wines that are true to the character of northern Burgundy. Their Chablis is noted for its purity and bright acidity, showing classic citrus, green apple, and flinty undertones.

Domaine Fournillon has increasingly focused on estate bottling, gaining recognition for producing authentic, terroir-driven wines at excellent value. They also produces a Crémant de Bourgogne that reflects the same precision and terroir expression found in their still wines. Made using the traditional method, this sparkling wine is crafted primarily from Chardonnay, offering bright citrus, green apple, and white flower aromas, with a fine mousse and clean, mineral-driven finish. Aged on lees to develop texture and complexity, it is excellent value for money, not something you can say very often these days in the region.
