Domaine Lebrun, established in 1861, is a family-owned estate nestled in the heart of the Pouilly-Fumé appellation on the slopes of Saint-Andelain. Now under the stewardship of sixth-generation winemaker Laurent Lebrun, the domaine spans approximately 9 hectares of vineyards rooted in flinty clay soils, renowned for imparting the characteristic minerality to their wines.
Laurent's journey in viticulture began with studies in Montpellier, followed by international experience in Australia and a tenure as General Manager and Head Winemaker at Château Olivier, a Grand Cru Classé in Bordeaux. His return to the family estate brought a fusion of global insights and traditional practices, leading to a comprehensive renovation aimed at expressing the purity and quality of their exceptional terroir.
The estate's Pouilly-Fumé is crafted exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, with vines averaging 25 years of age. Harvesting is conducted swiftly over two days to ensure optimal ripeness. The grapes undergo gentle pressing, followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures between 16-18°C. The wine then matures on fine lees for five months, enhancing its texture and complexity.
In its youth, the Pouilly-Fumé presents vibrant citrus notes intertwined with subtle smoky undertones, a hallmark of the flinty soils. As it ages, the wine develops greater fullness and complexity, offering a harmonious balance of fruit and minerality.
