Ecker-Eckhof is located in the idyllic village of Mitterstockstall in the Wagram region. For those who are geographically minded, this is 25km east of Wachau, along the path of the Danube. Family run for over 400 years, Bernhard Ecker and wife Alexandra continue in the spirit of Bernhard’s parents by creating honest, characterful wines with a nod to the past. ‘Ekhof’ comes from the precise location of their winery. 30 hectares of vines are split into 30 different plots in the best parts around Kirchberg am Wagram, Ruppersthal and Großweikersdorf.
It is the glacial loess soil with high proportions of clay and limestone gives the wines from this region their unmistakable character. Their wines are elegant and pure with great intensity and freshness but without any pinched acidity. Don’t miss the single vineyard bottlings. These are characterful wines with a confident swagger and the price/quality ratio is second to none. They have been certified organic since 2022.
