Eva Fricke is a testament to modern Riesling excellence. Since 2011, she has quickly established herself as a rising star of the Rheingau.
Eva refined her skills in renowned wine regions such as Bordeaux, Piedmont, and Ribera del Duero before becoming winemaker at Weingut Leitz. In 2006, she began her own project with just 0.25 hectares, growing it into a 17-hectare estate by 2011.
Eva’s philosophy centres on expressing the individuality of the Rheingau through single-vineyard wines. Her vineyards, located in Lorch, Eltville, Hattenheim, and Kiedrich, span diverse soils, from sandy loess and loam to slate and quartzite. These differences permeate her wines with a striking balance of ripe fruit, minerality, and finesse. The flagship Rheingau Riesling, sourced from multiple sites, showcases this harmony, while single-vineyard bottlings like Krone and Schlossberg display stunning terroir-driven precision.
Eva considers her Krone and Schlossberg wines as her Grands Crus, with old vines on slate and limestone producing wines of intensity and complexity. These Rieslings epitomize Eva’s dedication to elevating the Rheingau’s reputation, combining elegance, energy, and an unmistakable sense of place.
Committed to organic and biodynamic practices, Eva believes these methods not only benefit the environment but also enhance terroir expression. In the cellar, her low-intervention approach features spontaneous fermentation with native yeasts and extended lees aging in stainless steel, yielding vibrant, layered wines with remarkable purity.
